YOUR COLLECTION. YOUR LEGACY. OUR STEWARDSHIP.

Founded in Switzerland and built on three decades of expertise, with a commitment to your collection for generations to come.

Your Collection

Your Collection:
 Collection Management

We recognize the responsibility and diligence required to steward the collections entrusted to us. Our international team of specialists manages inventory, cataloguing, and documentation to establish a reliable record of provenance, while overseeing the logistics, storage, conservation, and insurance essential to the preservation of our clients’ holdings.

Curation

The Edit:
 Curation

We support the presentation of our clients’ collections in their homes, private offices or business settings. Curation is at the center of this process: we assist with artwork selection and placement. Collections are not static, and neither is our involvement: we return to review the hang in close consultation with our clients.

Publishing

PUBLISHING: BESPOKE PUBLICATIONS

A collection deserves to be documented in a form that endures. Our bespoke approach to publishing starts with in-depth research. Along with collection catalogues, we also produce limited-edition publications for a single work, exhibition, or milestone. Each book is shaped entirely by the collector's vision.

Museum Network

MUSEUM NETWORK: INSTITUTIONAL ACCESS

Our international network of curators and institutions provides unique opportunities for our clients. This access includes participation in special tours and a dialogue with institutions for loan placements on future exhibitions—doors that open through relationships cultivated over decades.

Research

RESEARCH: COLLECTION CONTEXT

Understanding a collection begins with research into the provenance, art historical context, and authentication of each work. Where a formal valuation is needed, we draw on our network of qualified appraisers. The result is a clear understanding of your collection—not just what is owned, but its origins and true value.

Artist Studio

IN STUDIO ACCESS: ARTIST VISITS

Drawing on our network, we can arrange visits to artist studios for our clients. Such rare opportunities for conversations with artists are inspiring and illuminating experiences. For commissions of new works, we provide guidance on the process, from the first conversation to finished work.

Reading Room

THE READING ROOM: YOUR ART LIBRARY

A collection is best understood in context, and the ideal library keeps that context close at hand. We build and curate a unique collection of books dedicated to our clients’ art holdings, featuring artist monographs, exhibition catalogues, and provenance literature including rare publications and those that are difficult to source.

Legacy

LEGACY PLANNING: COLLECTION LEGACY

Stewardship is a significant responsibility that requires prudent, deliberate decisions. You do not simply own a work of art; you hold it for the next generation. We advise on succession planning for the collection and institutional gifting when appropriate, ensuring the collection's legacy is a true reflection of our clients' intentions.

Foundling

Strategic Review:
 Collection Strategy

Collections evolve over time, and we work closely with our clients to shape a cohesive, long-term vision for a collection's direction. We serve as a thought partner, helping to hone discerning and prescient collections that reflect our clients' aspirations.

BESPOKE. HOLISTIC. LASTING.

AT HAUSER & WIRTH COLLECTIONS, WE UNDERSTAND THE PERSONAL, EMOTIONAL, AND FINANCIAL COMMITMENT A TRULY GREAT COLLECTION REQUIRES.

Established in 1992 in Zurich, Switzerland, Hauser & Wirth is a family-owned business founded by Ursula Hauser, Iwan Wirth and Manuela Wirth, who are themselves long-standing passionate collectors. The knowledge and expertise of Hauser & Wirth Collections began simultaneously with the custodianship of Ursula Hauser‘s renowned collection. Decades of stewardship have honed our unique understanding of the personal, emotional and financial commitments that significant art collections require. What began as bespoke support for the founders’ closest clients, has evolved into an international business that operates separately from the gallery’s commercial activities, safeguarding the integrity, value, and legacy of the collections we manage. With our roots in Switzerland, our global team combines exemplary discretion and deep expertise in collection management, registration, conservation, logistics, risk management and governance. Accountability and continuity are central to Hauser & Wirth Collections' approach, ensuring the highest standards of stewardship and service.
